Have you ever sunk inside yourself to a place of darkness so deep you couldn’t see the light? Had no hope? Felt completely alone in a world filled with so many people?
I have. I’ve lived it, breathed it.
Because life hated me.
It disliked me from the moment of conception, despised me when I was born, loathed me when I bounced from each foster home, and kicked me in the gut when I watched the one thing that meant everything to me leave.
For years, I drifted, unable to find my footing, never knowing what the word stable meant. Then a single moment in time rocked me to my core, changing me and making that solid ground I so desperately craved crumble at my feet, causing me to fall farther than I’d ever imagined.
The darkness of the swirling tornado that is depression captured me, pulling me down to its depths, drowning me, suffocating me, owning me.
A depth so deep, I didn’t think I’d survive and didn’t care if I did. I only wanted peace. I wanted the pain to disappear. I wanted to be … free.
Needing to fall into the cyclone of darkness was the only way I could find the light.
**Warning: This book covers many tough issues—including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and abuse. It is a very highly charged, emotional read. 18+ Only. Please note: depression, PSTD, and other issues covered in this book take different lengths of time to combat—some take a lifetime. In this book, time is skewed and sped up to flow with the story line.**
With just the first few chapters I was completely in love with the characters in this book. Needing to Fall is completely different from anything I have read from this author, but quickly became my favorite book from her. I felt connected to the characters almost right away because I have struggled with things just like these characters. Lynx and Reign will pull at your heart and give you feels like never before. Both characters are complex and you learn more and more about them with every turning page. With every word they became more and more a part of my heart. I can't even begin to describe the emotions that I felt while reading this because there was too many to count, but if you can think of the emotion I am sure at one point or another I felt it while reading this book. Ryan Michele completely outdid herself with this book. I have never read a book that dealt with such serious real life issues where the author was shocking truthful about the things people go through not trying to sugar coat it, but still kept it classy. Ryan Michele has an unbelievable gift and it show with every word of this book. I highly recommend you read this book.
Ryan Michele has a huge obsession with reading, which only came to life after her best friend said she had to read Twilight. After reading that series, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Not only was she sucked into new worlds and all of the wonderful words authors put down on paper, she felt the urge to begin to write down the characters that played inside of her head. In doing so, Safe was born. When she’s not reading or writing, she spends time taking care of her two children and her husband, enjoying the outdoors and laying in the sun.
